Adoption Policy
Dogs are adopted as is
All dogs are adopted AS IS in their condition at the time of adoption. Rescue dogs come from different environments and may have incomplete or unknown medical and behavioral histories. CK Rescue Retreat does not guarantee future health, temperament, behavior, or freedom from illness or parasites. Known conditions and available care records will be disclosed to adopters.
No refunds
ALL ADOPTIONS ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. Adoption fees are nonrefundable, including when a dog is returned, becomes ill, requires treatment, or the adopter’s circumstances change. Returning a dog does not create a right to a refund.
Veterinary costs
Upon adoption, the adopter accepts responsibility for the dog’s ongoing care and all veterinary expenses. CK Rescue Retreat will not reimburse or pay for veterinary visits, examinations, testing, medications, procedures, hospitalization, or emergency care after adoption. This applies regardless of how soon symptoms appear or which veterinary provider the adopter chooses.
Continued care
Care provided before adoption does not mean all future care is complete. Adopters are responsible for arranging continued veterinary care, including any additional vaccinations, deworming, preventive care, and treatment recommended by their veterinarian. Adopters must seek prompt veterinary attention when needed.
Acknowledgment
By signing the adoption agreement and policy addendum, the adopter acknowledges these terms and accepts responsibility for the dog’s care. This policy supplements the adoption agreement and does not change separate return requirements. These terms apply to the extent permitted by applicable law and do not waive rights that cannot legally be waived.
